Red Squirrel
Tamiasciurus hudsonicus
Red Squirrels
are much smaller than Gray Squirrels, but what they lack in size, they make up for with their voice and “personality”. They feed primarily on the seeds found inside conifer cones, and often leave piles
of debris that can accumulate for years near a feeding site.
Red Squirrels
are active during the day, and found statewide in mixed and coniferous forests.
