Black-capped Chickadee
Parus atricapilla
One of the most
numerous and easily recognizable birds in New York, Black-capped Chickadees can be identified by their relatively large heads
with black caps and bibs. While they are frequent visitors at bird feeders, insects make up a large part of their diet in
the summer. Chickadees are found statewide, with the exception of some parts
of New York City and Long Island.
